Layout and Interior Fittings

Generally mahogany throughout with brass fittings, teak and holly hardwood flooring apart from the galley and crews' quarters. Bathrooms and main passage in off white laminate with mahogany trim. Galley in deep brown laminate with mahogany trim. Brass light fittings by Vetus. Owner's Cabin The aft Owner's Cabin is equipped with two large berths, a washbasin, a ladies' vanity, and an escape hatch to the aft deck. There are plenty of overhead cabinets and ample drawer and locker space. In the center of the room is a large bathroom equipped with shower, wash basin, bidet, toilet, ventilator fan and full length mirror. The room is paneled throughout in mahogany with brass fittings with a teak and holly hardwood floor. Guest Cabins The Port and Starboard Guest Cabins each have one double berth and one single Pullman berth with a ladies' vanity, overhead cabinets and ample drawers and lockers. There is an En Suite bathroom with shower, toilet, washbasin, ventilator fan and a full length mirror. Both rooms are paneled throughout in mahogany with brass fittings with a teak and holly hardwood floor. Main Passage The teak and holly floored main passage connects all cabins to the saloon. There is a linen cupboard and a broom cupboard. The main passage and the bathrooms are all in off white laminates with mahogany trim. Saloon The saloon is mahogany paneled throughout with brass fittings, and is floored in teak and holly hardwood flooring. The center of the saloon is the gimbaled table with a wrap-around settee. There are also a Coffee/Card table, occasional chairs, a bar counter with a large wine rack, book shelves and ample storage space. In one corner of the saloon is the navigation center with a large chart table and most of the navigation equipment. Galley The galley is superbly designed with ample storage both dry and frozen and is equipped with every conceivable domestic appliance and catering utensils. There is a stainless steel double bowl sink with hot, cold and sea water pressure fed taps. The equipment includes a 2 door 110 Volt refrigerator / freezer, an 8.4 cubic foot chest freezer, gimbaled three burner stove with oven, a convection microwave oven with a rotating turntable, 12-cup coffee maker and many others. There is also a full set of formal chinaware and silverware designed exclusively for CARIAD I. The galley is finished in deep brown laminate with mahogany trim. Crews' Quarters The crews' quarters consists of one room with 3 single berths, overhead cabinets, drawers, a folding table and a crews' head with a shower and a wash basin, and a captains cabin with 2 single berths, overhead cabinets, drawers and lockers. Upper Deck Passenger Area The upper deck passenger area is equipped with a large teak folding table, bench lockers and ice chests, and is covered with a stainless steel tubing and canvas awning to provide a shelter from the sun and rain. |
